Upper Hinge, Front Driver Side

The front door hinge replacement process starts with marking the door position followed by taking it off. The body requires bolt removal followed by extraction of the hinge (1,3) from the body parts. Before installation you must attach the hinge (1,3) to the body while following all instructions mentioned in the Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices. Insert the bolts into place before tightening them to 48 N.m (35 lb ft). Attach the door to its hinges (1,3) after which tighten all bolts with the same torque value. After attaching the door to its hinges (1,3) check its alignment then adjust as needed.

Correct door latch operation can be maintained during front Door Hinge service and repair by keeping the striker parallel with the door face while also avoiding usage of the striker for door adjustments to protect both the door latch and the striker mechanism. Adjustments on the hinges are enabled by floating anchor plates that are part of the door and front body hinge pillars. You should verify that the door lock striker moves unimpeded across the hinges because the striker functions only to secure the door against the opening. The door needs to be adjusted in all positions including up and down followed by forward and rearward movement and in and out motions. Adjustments to the door or striker require resetting the striker adjustment before you apply touch up paint to exposed areas on the hinge and striker pillar.

Attach the hinge (1,3) to the body and ensure to follow the Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

Install the bolts and tighten them to 48 N.m (35 lb ft).
