    Q:
How to Replace an A/C Hose in the Evaporator Tube System on Chevrolet Malibu? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first action when replacing an evaporator tube should involve refrigerant recovery. Unfasten the evaporator tube which connects with the evaporator and disconnect the auxiliary evaporator tube from its path through auxiliary piping. Insert the following steps to attain replacement of the evaporator tube: first disconnect the evaporator tube nut from the condenser and then remove nuts (1, 2) from the evaporator tube fender connection. The washer solvent container should be removed together with the coolant recovery tank next. The orifice tube remover (J 26549-E) lets you remove the evaporator tube and you should discard its o-ring seal during removal. Installation begins with placing a new o-ring seal which must be followed by insertion of the evaporator tube. The evaporator tube needs connection to the evaporator while using a torque wrench to achieve 28 n.m (21 lb ft). First connect the auxiliary evaporator tube to the auxiliary piping before tightening the nut to 28 n.m (21 lb ft) and then connect the evaporator tube to the condenser while performing the same torque specification. The coolant recovery tank and washer solvent container should be reinstalled next followed by installing the nuts (1, 2) on the evaporator tube to the fender while maintaining a torque of 28 n.m (21 lb ft). Evacuation of the a/c system followed by chassis recharge completes the procedure while the components' fittings should undergo halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) testing.
