Injection Nozzle

The fuel meter body assembly needs removal before proceeding with Fuel Injector replacement. The injector assembly retainer and injector retainer lock nuts need to be uninstall while paying attention to protect electrical connector terminals before you remove the fuel injectors as they should be treated as one complete assembly. Cleaning the electrical fuel injectors remains discouraged because they need to stay away from all types of solvents and the prevention of damage requires they stay dry. A small tip punch should be used to push down between the injector terminals when pulling the poppet nozzle tube downward for injector removal. A proper installation process requires calibration of each injector at its designated flow rate followed by the correct installment of the injector complied with the application type. The new injector o-ring seals need lubrication using clean engine oil before receiving their proper placement on the injector assembly . After installing the Fuel Injector assembly into its socket position the system with the injector assembly retainer together with the injector retainer lock nuts at 3.0 n.m (27 lb in). Reinstall the fuel meter body assembly as the last step of the procedure.

The first step for Fuel Injector service requires removal of the fuel meter body assembly followed by the injector assembly retainer and the retention lock nuts. Take care while extracting fuel injectors to protect the electrical connector terminals, injector filter and fuel nozzle since the Fuel Injector should be maintained as an entire assembly unit. Injectors function as electrical components so exposure to liquid solvents or cleaners will cause destruction. A small tip punch should be used to pull the poppet nozzle tube downward during the injector removal process between the injector terminals. The installation process requires a new injector that has been calibrated precisely for the flow rate amount that the application needs. Apply engine oil on the new injector o-ring seals before placing them correctly on the injector assembly. After installing the Fuel Injector assembly into the injector socket you must add the injector assembly retainer with its matching injector retainer lock nuts . Tighten these nuts to 3.0 n.m (27 lb in). Replace the fuel meter body assembly as the final step.

Reinstall the brake booster vacuum hose and connector, resonator, air inlet duct, ignition wires, and engine cover.

While pulling the poppet nozzle tube downward, use a small tip punch to push down between the injector terminals until the injector is removed.

Lubricate the new injector O-ring seals with clean engine oil and install the O-rings on the injector assembly.

Reassemble the lower hold down plate and nuts, tightening them to 3 N.m (27 lb in).
