The first step for replacing the A/C Orifice Tube includes recovering refrigerant and raising the vehicle height. Drilling the condenser evaporator hose assembly connection requires a bolt removal. Next, separate the assembly by taping or capping the condenser line outlet to avoid contamination. The A/C Orifice Tube Remover (J 26549-E) should be used to pull out the A/C orifice tube after removing the seal washer. Rocket scientists that need heat application should use a heat gun directed 7 mm (1/4 in) from dimples on the inlet pipe to install the A/C orifice tube by using pliers with twisting motions. Discard the seal washer. Use a cleaning method to eliminate any pollutants from the evaporator inlet line surface. Examine both the plastic frame and filter screen of the A/C Orifice Tube before replacement testing for torn or plugged filter screen (1,2) or broken plastic frame or a damaged brass A/C orifice tube (1). Reinstall the A/C orifice tube only when you add a fresh O-ring after applying mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil to its surface. Begin by placing the A/C orifice tube in the evaporator line starting from the short filter screen outlet side then remove the cap or tape from the condenser line. You should use a lint-free cloth to clean the sealing surface of line fittings before putting on a new seal washer on the condenser tube and fastening the evaporator hose assembly to the condenser while tightening the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). Afterwards lower the vehicle then exhaust and charge the AC system before conducting a leak check on fittings through the Halogen Detector (J 39400-A).

The necessary replacement tools for the expansion (A/C Orifice Tube) consist of the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A) together with the A/C Orifice Tube Remover (J 26549-E). The first step requires recovery of refrigerant and vehicle lift. The first step involves removing the bolt that connects the evaporator hose assembly to the condenser before detaching the assembly while using tape to seal the condenser line opening against contaminant entry. The process requires discarding the seal washer before extracting the A/C orifice tube with A/C Orifice Tube Remover (J 26549-E). The presence of restrictions or plugging requires residue removal and heat application from a heat gun at 7 mm distance (1/4 in) from the inlet pipe dimples followed by plier use to extract the A/C orifice tube through push-pull movements for loosening. Clean the inside of the evaporator inlet line for removing any source of contamination. The expansion A/C orifice tube needs to be inspected for damage and a replacement should be conducted in case of issues. A new O-ring must be installed after applying mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil to the surface lightly. The A/C orifice tube needs to be inserted into the evaporator line so start from the short filter screen outlet side before cleaning all line fitting sealing surfaces using a lint-free cloth. After installing a new seal washer to the condenser tube you can connect the evaporator hose assembly to the condenser as you tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). Evacuate and charge the A/C system following a leak test on all fittings done with the Halogen Detector (J 39400-A).

First recover the refrigerant while raising the vehicle before beginning to replace the A/C Orifice Tube. The evaporator hose assembly on the condenser requires unfastening its bolt for removal before discarding its seal washer. Immediately apply a tape or cap to prevent contamination of the open condenser line. An A/C Orifice Tube remover tool known as j 26549-e needs to be used for tube extraction. Apply heat near the dimples of the inlet pipe with a heat gun 7 mm (1/4 in) away to loosen a restricted A/C Orifice Tube while using pliers to hold it and performing push-pull motion. Clean the residue before loosening. Thoroughly clean the evaporator inlet line interior to eliminate any kind of contamination. Check the A/C Orifice Tube for damages by inspecting its plastic frame and filter screen (1,2) for tears and plugging and its brass tube for damage. The filter screen can be reused after cleaning with low-pressure shop air when it shows satisfactory cleaning results. The A/C Orifice Tube can be reused if a fresh o-ring is installed with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil applied to it. Insert the A/C Orifice Tube remover (J 26549-E) into the evaporator line from the short filter screen outlet side with caution when removing the cap or tape. Before installation replace the tape or cap from the condenser line then clean both fittings with a lint-free cloth before adding a new seal washer to the tube. Replace the evaporator hose assembly to the condenser and secure the bolt at 25 n.m (18 lb ft). The vehicle must then be lowered while system evacuation and charging follows before performing a halogen leak detection test on fitting connections (J 39400-A).

Install the orifice tube using the J 26549-E.

Lower the vehicle, evacuate and recharge the A/C system, inspect the system operation, and perform a leak test.
