You can start the Power Steering Pump replacement for 4.8l, 5.3l and 6.0l engines by putting a drain pan under the vehicle and removing the Power Steering Pump pulley. The lower intermediate shaft attachment to power steering gear should have its retaining bolt removed before disconnecting the shaft from the power steering gear. First raise the vehicle, support it properly and remove the wheel along with the tire before continuing. The repair process starts by disconnecting the reservoir outlet hose as well as the power steering gear outlet hose or cooler hose while the power brake booster inlet hose gets detached from the Power Steering Pump through the wheel well opening. This procedure involves using caps to seal all hose ends and the pump against dirt entry. The Power Steering Pump should be reinstalled into the vehicle by first tightening the front mounting bolts to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) before tightening the rear mounting bolt to 41 nm (30 ft. Lbs.). Direction the hoses back in their original placement before fitting the power brake booster inlet hose with a 33 nm (24 ft. Lbs.) torque and connecting the power steering gear outlet hose or cooler hose last with its reservoir outlet hose. Next position the tire and wheel away while lowering the vehicle until ready to reattach the lower intermediate shaft to the power steering gear using a retaining bolt fastened at 61 nm (45 ft. Lbs.). Install the Power Steering Pump pulley then complete the bleeding procedure before removing the drain pan which remained under the car during the task completion.

After vehicle lift ensure that the power steering hoses follow their original position during routing before connecting them. Screw the power brake booster inlet hose towards the Power Steering Pump before tightening the fitting to 33 nm (24 ft. Lbs.). Next, proceed with the power steering gear outlet hose or cooler hose and the reservoir outlet hose via the wheel well. Before reinstalling the tire and wheel please lower the vehicle and bolt the lower intermediate shaft to power steering gear with a torque of 61 nm (45 ft. Lbs.). After Power Steering Pump pulley reinstallation the system needs bleeding and users must remove drain pans situated beneath the vehicle.

The Power Steering Pump replacement should start with placing a drain pan underneath the vehicle followed by removing the Power Steering Pump pulley. The vehicle Power Steering Pump installation should be completed by securing the front mounting bolts to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) and the rear mounting bolt to 41 nm (30 ft. Lbs.). After lifting the vehicle once more you should uncover power steering hoses while routing them precisely as they were positioned previously. Use a 33 nm torque to join the power brake booster inlet hose to the Power Steering Pump while installing the power steering gear outlet hose and reservoir outlet hose. First disconnect the tire along with its wheel followed by lowering the vehicle before connecting the lower intermediate shaft to the power steering gear and securing it with a retaining bolt torqued up to 61 nm (45 ft. Lbs.). End the process by reinstalling the Power Steering Pump pulley then bled the system and remove the drain pan beneath the vehicle.

Tighten it to 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.).

Connect the power brake booster inlet hose to the power steering pump through the wheel well, tightening the hose fitting to 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.).
