    Q:
How to replace the power steering pump on GMC C2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
You should start by removing the power steering pulley and then put a drain pan under the pump. After that, remove the hose guide bracket on the front of the pump, unplug the electrical connector for those with variable effort steering systems and get rid of all the hoses from around the pump. Take off the lower intermediate shaft from the steering gears, undo the bolt that hold the rear bracket to the engine and remove the pump after unscrewing all the bolts from the front. At this stage, remove the bracket (3) from the backside of the pump (1). Install the bracket (3) on the rear of the pump (1), fasten it in place with the rear bracket retaining nuts (5) to 50 n.m (37 lb ft) and then proceed to the next step. After that, connect the pump and attach the guide bracket bolt to the pump and the bolt for the engine's rear bracket. Set the bolts into the front of the pump and tighten them until you reach 50 n.m (37 lb ft). For cars with variable effort steering, connect the electrical connector after that, put the hoses on the pump and tighten the nut to 28 n.m (20 lb ft). In the end, set up the intermediate shaft, the power steering pulley and fully complete the power steering system by filling and bleeding it.

    Q:
How to replace the power steering pump on GMC C3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Place a drain pan beneath the pump before removing the hoses while keeping them capped for preservation. Professionally install the Power Steering Pump pulley remover (J 25034-C) by making sure the pilot bolt reaches the bottom of the pump shaft through a process of directing the nut to the pilot bolt top position before holding the bolt and counterclockwise nut rotation. Proceed to take out the pump by disconnecting the front mounting bolts then removing rear mounting nuts from the studs along with the evo actuator electrical connector. To install the pump first use Power Steering Pump pulley installer (J 25033-C) then secure front mounting bolts with 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) torque followed by rear mounting nuts tightened to the same value of 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). The pump shaft should receive the pulley while using j 25033-c to add it through the pilot bolt until it rests within the pump shaft. Keep holding the pilot bolt and turn the nut clockwise. Position the pulley at the Power Steering Pump shaft end where it shows 0.5 mm (0.020 inch) of slippage. After installing the Drive Belt and hoses and electrical connector to the evo actuator complete the system fill and bleeding operation and check the hoses and wiring clearance.
