    Q:
How to service and repair a gas charged shock absorber on Chevrolet Tahoe? Posted by Customer
    A:
Proper safety needs must be established before starting any work on the gas charged shock absorber by putting on safety glasses to shield against injuries from centerpunching and drilling operations. Use a centerpunch to make an indentation which should be located 10 mm (0.4 inch) below the tube bottom. Position the shock absorber in a vise which should have its shock absorber rod completely extended horizontally. Position the drill bit at the centerpunch mark for making a 5 mm (3/16 inch) hole that allows gas or a gas/oil mixture to drain while shop towels absorb escaping oil. The second hole at the middle indentation in the tube should be drilled using the same 5 mm drill bit after creating the mark by centerpunch while protecting against oil spillage with shop towels. After removing the shock absorber from the vise position it horizontally above a drain pan while facing the holes downward to extract all oil from the tube by moving the rod through the tube.

    Q:
How to replace the shock absorber on the 15 Series on GMC Yukon? Posted by Customer
    A:
Proceed with replacing the 15 series Shock Absorber by raising and supporting the vehicle. When the car has electrical suspension control (ESC) you need to remove its electrical connector and air lines before supporting the rear axle. The esc sensor needs disconnection if the vehicle has this component. Begin by untightening the upper Shock Absorber nut and bolt before moving onto the lower Shock Absorber nut and bolt to finally remove the Shock Absorber. The installation requires the new Shock Absorber to be placed into its position while securing it with upper Shock Absorber nut and bolt according to the fastener notice in cautions and notices. Installe both the upper and lower Shock Absorber nuts and bolts next while tightening them to 95 nm (70 ft. Lbs.). Reconnect rtd's electrical connector together with its air line component when equipped. Install the esc sensor after disconnecting it. Putting away the rear axle support then discard safety stands while lowering the vehicle.
