    Q:
How to replace the A/C Accumulator on Chevrolet Impala? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin the replacement process of the A/C Accumulator by recovering all refrigerant found inside it. The a/c tube couplings and air cleaner assembly must be detached from the A/C Accumulator tube which connects to both evaporator tube and condenser tube. To remove and replace the A/C Accumulator, first disconnect the tube from the condenser and then remove the mounting bolt while disconnecting the tube from the evaporator. Discard the o-ring seals. When you replace the A/C Accumulator you need to apply the necessary quantity of refrigerant oil. The installation sequence for the A/C Accumulator tube requires the addition of replacement o-ring seals which must be applied to the A/C Accumulator tubes before connecting them to the evaporator tube while performing the a/c tube coupling at the end of this operation. Secure the A/C Accumulator mounting bolt by tightening it to 4 n.m (36 lb in). Combine the condenser with the A/C Accumulator by installing an a/c tube coupling on their connecting point. Reinstall the air cleaner assembly then start the drain-down process of the a/c system by evacuation and recharging. The final step requires the usage of the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) to execute a leak test on the component fittings.
