How to replace the A/C Accumulator on Chevrolet Colorado?

The first step before replacing the A/C Accumulator involves appropriate methods for collecting the refrigerant. The removal of the grille requires extra caution because disconnecting the hoses or lines should not occur until the system fully empties its r134a fluid to prevent injuries. First detach the condenser hose bolt and its attachment to the A/C Accumulator then remove the evaporator tube bolt while dislodging its tube. The condenser hose and evaporator tube assembly should receive caps which stop both moisture entry and oil spillage. Start by removing both bolts from the A/C Accumulator assembly bracket and then separate the A/C Accumulator unit by unwinding the clamp bolt. When adding a new A/C Accumulator to the system users should carefully determine the required pag oil amount. Install the A/C Accumulator bottle into the clamp without tightening while adding new o-rings that require pag oil for internal circulation and 525 viscosity mineral oil on fittings to avoid compressor breakdown. Fasten the bracket bolts of the A/C Accumulator and tighten the A/C Accumulator clamp bolt to 5 n.m (44 lb in). Disconnect the condenser hose from the condenser cap while plugging it and install a fresh seal washer. The evaporator tube needs installation onto the A/C Accumulator while using an evaporator tube bolt to reach a torque tightness of 20 n.m (15 lb ft). The condenser hose needs connection to the A/C Accumulator before using a hand tool to start securing the condenser hose bolt to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). The evacuation and recharging process of the a/c system requires a j39400-a halogen leak detector to analyze the component fittings before reinstalling the grille.

How to replace the A/C Accumulator on Chevrolet Malibu?

The first step to replace the A/C accumulator requires proper refrigerant recovery before proceeding. The right front fender liner needs removal for access while immediately applying fittings that seal the condenser and evaporator opening to avoid contamination during the procedure. Before removal of the evaporator line bolt from the condenser unit handle the nuts and ferrules which will stay on the line gently. Proceed to remove the A/C accumulator from its installation. The installation requires O-rings to be placed on the liquid line followed by liquid line insertion into the A/C accumulator while tightening the nuts by hand. You should install the evaporator hose bolt and apply 25 N.m (18 lb ft) of torque to it. The A/C accumulator should have its liquid line fully inserted before applying 15 N.m (11 lb ft) torque to the accumulator nuts. Finish the process by evacuating the refrigerant system followed by charging and running a leak test on the A/C accumulator and reinstallation of the right front fender liner before lowering the vehicle.

How to install the A/C Accumulator to the A/C evaporator tube on Chevrolet S10?

The first step to install the A/C Accumulator (ACDelco P/N 15-1697) at the a/c Evaporator tube near the condenser and Evaporator involves removing both the pcm and engine Coolant Reservoir. First loosen the Evaporator accumulator nut while moving the accumulator for better access to the tube leading to the Evaporator. Measure 100 mm (4 in) from the bend after the high side access port and place a mark before moving the measurement probe 50.8 mm (2 in) to tag another point on the Evaporator tube. You need to slice the marked section of the Evaporator tube with a tubing cutter before removing the burrs. The A/C Accumulator requires nut and ferrule removal along with o-ring removal but o-rings will not be installed yet. The A/C Accumulator should be installed with its flow arrow aimed at the Evaporator after mounting the nuts and ferrules over the Evaporator tube halves followed by ferrule installation with small ends facing toward the nuts. Secure A/C Accumulator nuts to 15 n.m (11 lb ft), afterward remove nuts to prepare o-ring seals with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil prior to installing o-rings on Evaporator tube. The A/C Accumulator nuts require tightening to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). The installation process for the accumulator includes mounting it to the Evaporator while tightening its Evaporator nut to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Install the accumulator bracket to the high side access port position. After evacuation and recharge of the a/c system you must perform a leak test using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A). Close the procedure by reinstalling the engine Coolant Reservoir along with the pcm.

You need to slice the marked section of the Evaporator tube with a tubing cutter before removing the burrs. The A/C Accumulator requires nut and ferrule removal along with o-ring removal but o-rings will not be installed yet. The A/C Accumulator should be installed with its flow arrow aimed at the Evaporator after mounting the nuts and ferrules over the Evaporator tube halves followed by ferrule installation with small ends facing toward the nuts. Secure A/C Accumulator nuts to 15 n.m (11 lb ft), afterward remove nuts to prepare o-ring seals with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil prior to installing o-rings on Evaporator tube. The A/C Accumulator nuts require tightening to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). The installation process for the accumulator includes mounting it to the Evaporator while tightening its Evaporator nut to 15 n.m (11 lb ft).
