    Q:
How to replace the Power Steering Reservoir on Buick Lucerne? Posted by Customer
    A:
The power steering reservoir replacement process should start by fixing the hydraulic pump vertically with its shaft pointing upwards against a stable surface. The screwdriver should be used to extend the retaining clip tab before sliding the reservoir clip away from the hydraulic pump assembly. The procedure should be repeated for the second reservoir clip before extracting the reservoir from the hydraulic pump housing. Remove the O-ring seal that should be discarded either from the reservoir neck or inside the hydraulic pump housing. Before installation of the new O-ring seal place power steering fluid on it then position the seal onto the reservoir neck. Secure the reservoir onto the hydraulic pump assembly by making sure its neck completely reaches the inner compartment before finishing installation. Place the reservoir feet directly on the hydraulic pump housing sides when you mount the new retaining clips provided with the pump until they connect completely with the housing.

    Q:
How to replace the Power Steering Reservoir on Cadillac DTS? Posted by Customer
    A:
The Power Steering Reservoir replacement process begins by unscrewing the mounting bracket bolts from the mounting bracket assembly which then facilitates taking off the mounting bracket assembly from the pump. The reservoir assembly requires removal of retaining clips using J-42649 before detaching from the hydraulic pump housing. Remove the O-ring seal from the reservoir along with discarding it. Use J-42649 to test TORX(R) head bolts on the hydraulic pump housing during assembly. Tighten them to 20-25 Nm (15-18 lb ft). The valve bore plug requires tightening at 50-60 Nm (37-44 lb ft) with an O-ring union fitting and the valve bore plug also needs checking. Install the new O-ring seal on the reservoir by applying power steering fluid and position it correctly so the mounting hole of the reservoir matches the opening on top of the housing assembly for protection. Secure the connection between the reservoir assembly and hydraulic pump housing by making sure the retaining clip reaches its complete seating position. You must use a hammer to tap the retaining clips before attaching the pump to the mounting bracket assembly where you will tighten the mounting bracket bolts to 28-38 Nm (21-28 lb ft).
