    Q:
How to replace the outer tie rod end on Cadillac CTS? Posted by Customer
    A:
Starting the replacement of an outer Tie Rod End requires the vehicle to be lifted and supported. After wheel removal you must loosen the outer tie rod jam nut before taking out the outer tie rod retaining nut. The steering linkage and tie rod puller (J 24319-B) tool must be used to detach the outer Tie Rod End from the Steering Knuckle whereby the number of turns taken during removal will serve for reinstallation. Remove the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod as the next step. The installation process requires you to duplicate the number of turns from removal for connecting the outer tie rod to the inner tie rod before tightening the jam nut. Attach the outer tie rod to the Steering Knuckle before installation of the outer tie rod retaining nut which requires a torque setting of 70 nm (52 ft. Lbs.). Place the tire followed by the wheel onto your vehicle and implement front toe adjustments before completely lowering it.

How to replace the Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End on Cadillac CTS? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step for replacing the Rack And Pinion outer Tie Rod End involves vehicle elevation followed by tire and wheel removal. The first step is to loosen the outer tie rod jam nut before removing its retaining nut. The steering linkage and tie rod puller (J 24319-B) will be used to disconnect the outer tie rod from the Steering Knuckle with note of the removal count for reinstallation. Take the outer tie rod out from the inner tie rod. The installation of the outer tie rod onto the inner tie rod should be performed using the exact number of turns recorded during removal before adjusting the jam nut. The mechanic should attach the outer tie rod to the Steering Knuckle while installing the outer tie rod retaining nut before securing it at a torque of 70 nm (52 ft. Lbs.). A tire and wheel installation follows after the completion of front toe adjustment when lowering the vehicle.
