The process to replace the outer Tie Rod End starts with vehicle support followed by removing tire and wheel. You need to remove the outer tie rod retaining nut after which you should avoid damaging seal through separation of the steering linkage joint by securing it with a wedge placed between the joint and attachment points. Detach the outer tie rod from the Steering Knuckle by utilizing the steering linkage and tie rod puller (J24319-B). Unfasten the jam nut before removing the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod section. Reserve the jam nut for disposal. Verify that the shaft possesses no bent threads and clean all areas on the Steering Knuckle's tapered surface. The installation process for a new outer tie rod begins with putting suitable chassis lubricant on the inner tie rod threads. Afterward you must install a fresh jam nut onto the outer tie rod before connecting it to the inner tie rod . Secure the outer tie rod to the Steering Knuckle then apply an outer tie rod retaining nut and tighten it to 45 nm (33 ft. Lbs.). After the tire replacement proceed to reattach the wheel and lower the vehicle before conducting front toe adjustment.

Gather the necessary tools, including the Inner Tie Rod Wrench (J34028).

Use a wrench on the flats of the inner tie rod housing and rotate it counterclockwise.
