    Q:
What tools are required to service and repair the valve guide seal, replace the valve stem oil seal, and valve spring on Chevrolet Colorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
These tools are needed to repair the Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring parts: en 46547 (Flywheel Holding Tool), j 38820 (Valve Stem Seal Installer), j 39313 (Spark Plug Port Adapter), j 43059 (Valve Retainer Remover/Installer), j 44228 (Valve Spring Compressor). Place the vehicle on jacks in its raised position before you detach the service slot plug. Insert the en 46547 into the flywheel teeth and put down the vehicle. To fix the specified cylinder put j 44228's base plate above the Spark Plug hole and uninstall valve rocker arms and spark plugs. Put the j 39313 into the Spark Plug hole and maintain steady airflow to lock the valve in place. Before tightening the swivel nut on j 44228 attach its arm over the proper stud of the valve to be serviced with caution towards the high valve spring tension. Twist the swivel nut several turns to view the valve locks but do not adjust its tension. Lift out the locks using a magnetic tool. Shift the swivel nut right and move the arm away to take out the valve spring retainer and valve spring. To replace the Valve Stem Oil Seal you must grip the old seal with j 38820 then discard it after examination. Apply engine oil to both sides of the new seal before inserting it with the j 38820 tool and placing a seal protector over the valve stem. Place the retainer and valve spring on the piston. Using the j 43059, position the arm above the retainer until you can fix the valve locks. Use the j 44228 to remove only the swivel nut and arm from each valve in the cylinder. Release the air pressure and take off both parts j 39313 and j 44228 base plate. Finally install the valve rocker arms plus spark plugs then raise and secure the vehicle to take off the flywheel teeth tooth extractor en 46547 before inserting the service slot plug as you lower the vehicle.

    Q:
How to service and repair the valve guide seal, replace the valve stem oil seal, and valve spring on GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before starting work you must raise the vehicle for access and support it. Set down the vehicle after installing en 46547 into Flywheel teeth and unplugging the service slot. You need to take away both valve rocker arms and spark plugs at this step. Put a j 44228 base plate first into the Spark Plug hole of the cylinder then add j 39313 into the Spark Plug hole. Utilize steady air pressure on the j 39313 valve until it remains closed, then attach the arm swivel nut of the j 44228 tool over the appropriate stud for maintenance. Be careful during this task since valve spring tension remains high even when the spring compressor is compressed. Screw the j 44228 swivel until it reaches the valve lock removal point then use a magnet to extract both locks. Unwind the j 44228 swivel nut to move the arm off the valve spring retainer. After installing the spring retainer and valve spring remove them together. Push the j 38320 tool against the seal and take it out by applying rotation while pulling to discard the old Valve Stem Oil Seal. Check the valve spring quality then apply clean engine oil to both valve stem and new seal interior while fixing. Ensure valve stem protection before placing the new seal into position with the j 38320. Set the valve spring retainer in place before swinging the arm over it. Secure the j 44228 swivel nut just enough to place the valve locks properly into position. Insert the valve locks into the valve stem retainer space with the j 43059 tool set. Afterwards take the swivel nut and arm out of the j 44228. Follow the same steps for all valves needing service in the cylinder before letting the pressure escape into the cylinder and taking off the j 39313 from the Spark Plug hole. Follow this procedure for all cylinders that need servicing by first taking off the j 44228 base plate. You will finish setup by installing spark plugs and valve rocker arms then lifting and supporting the vehicle before taking off the en 46547 from Flywheel teeth and inserting the service slot plug. Lower the vehicle after this step.
