Mass Air Flow Sensor

When changing the Mass Air Flow Sensor into an intake Air Temperature Sensor the sensor requires gentle handling to prevent hurting the honeycell opening and maintain the sensor's elements free from solvents and lubricants. The air duct installation requires a little amount of non-silicone lubricant. The first step involves taking out the air cleaner outlet resonator that is connected to the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor. The installation procedure begins when the technician disconnects the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor and loosens the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor adapter clamp before extracting the sensor out of its air cleaner assembly position. To install the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor place it in the air cleaner assembly while aligning the embossed arrow toward the motor direction. Secure the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor adapter clamp at 4 nm (35 lb in) while connecting the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor. Reinstall the air cleaner outlet resonator as the last step.

You should handle the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor with care to protect the honeycell at the air inlet end of the device because touching the sensing elements or exposing them to solvents or lubricants can cause damage. When installing or replacing the Mass Air Flow Sensor/intake Air Temperature Sensor handle it carefully to prevent damaging the honeycell and to protect the sensing elements from both touch exposure and cleaning solvent or lubricating contamination. Start by taking off the air cleaner outlet resonator before disconnecting the engine wiring harness electrical connector attached to the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor. The Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor must be removed from the air cleaner assembly after loosening its seal clamp. The Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor installation should begin by orienting the embossed arrow facing the engine so the air flow stays proper. Secure the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor into the air cleaner assembly by tightening its seal clamp to 4 n.m (35 lb in). To finish the procedure position the engine wiring harness electrical connector on the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor followed by replacement of the air cleaner outlet resonator.

Tighten the MAF/IAT sensor seal clamp to 4 N.m (35 lb in).
