    Q:
How to replace the TPMS Sensor on Buick Rainier? Posted by Customer
    A:
In order to replace Tire Pressure Sensor, first lift the vehicle on a convenient support and remove the tire/wheel assembly. Then, remove the tire from the wheel, making sure to set the cap and valve of the sensor on a clean and dry space so that it does not get damaged; the cap is of aluminum and the valve is made up of nicked-plated, and should not be replaced with other specifications. When prying the tire bead off the wheel, position the bead breaking fixture at a 90-degree angle to the valve stem and mount the mounting/dismounting head at a position near the tire iron or pry bar to be used, in a clock position to the sensor body. Using the tire machine, rotate the tire/wheel assembly clockwise until you move the tire bead to the outside of the wheel rim, and repeat for the inner bead. Unscrew the tire pressure sensor nut and keep the tire and wheel surfaces clear of any remaining tire sealant when removing the tire pressure sensor. For installation, clean the sealing area around the grommet, insert the sensor into the hole of the wheel with its air passage facing away from the wheel, and fitting in the sensor nut while facing its body parallel to the inside wheel surface and tighten it to 7Nm (62 inch lbs.). Before reinstalling the tire place mounting/dismounting head 180 degrees away from valve stem and bead transition 45 degrees to the left of valve stem, twist tire/wheel assembly clockwise to move tire bead to the insides of the rim of the wheel and do so again for outer bead. After reinstalling the tire/wheel assembly on the vehicle, observe that a service replacement tire pressure sensor was shipped in OFF mode and must be spun above 32 km/h (20 mph) for 10 sec at least before the sensor will close the internal roll switch and then lower the vehicle and learn tires pressure sensor.
