    Q:
How to replace the cooling fan and fan shroud (LZ9) on Chevrolet Uplander? Posted by Customer
    A:
Removal of the air cleaner and duct assembly should be the first step when handling a cooling fan replacement project including a shroud replacement (LZ9). The first step involves removing the right side diagonal brace followed by taking off the radiator inlet hose. Start by disconnecting the cooling fan harness electrical connector then soften the engine mount strut nuts situated at the engine side. Start by disconnecting the radiator outlet hose in its retainer and extract the overflow hose from its retainers and rotate engine mount strut bracket bolts from the upper radiator support for removal. The procedure begins by removing the battery while performing radiator upper mount bolting then extracting both radiator upper mounts and cooling Fan Shroud bolts. First disconnect the upper transmission oil cooler line from the radiator then elevate the vehicle to take out the radiator air baffle. Disconnect the toc lines from the Fan Shroud retainer clip afterward lower the vehicle and finally remove both cooling Fan Shroud and fans. Begin installation by setting the cooling Fan Shroud along with fans in position before raising the vehicle to attach toc lines with the Fan Shroud retainer clip followed by radiator air baffle installation. Lower the vehicle then join the upper toc line with the radiator. Begin installation by fastening the cooling Fan Shroud bolts to 6 n.m (53 lb in). Then move to the radiator upper mounts and upper mount bolts that need to be tightened to 10 n.m (88 lb in). The battery installation should be followed by attaching the radiator outlet hose retainer and affixing the overflow hose to its retainers. The first step involves lining up engine mount struts brackets against the upper radiator support before installing engine mount strut bracket brace bolts to this surface until they reach 28 n.m (21 lb ft) and tightening engine strut mount nuts at the engine side to 48 n.m (35 lb ft). The cooling fan harness electrical connector needs reconnection after installing the radiator inlet hose and right side diagonal brace and air cleaner and duct assembly.
