    Q:
How to replace a starter motor on Chevrolet K3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Unscrew the battery and jack up the vehicle on adequate safety stands. Next is to remove the positive cable and the wiring harness from the Starter and the Starter mounting bolts and washers (with the shims if equipped) and pull out the Starter. Mark the location of the snap-on shield and peel it off if needed. For installation, start with installation of the Starter mounting bolts and washers through the Starter to engine and tightening of 45 n.m (33 lb ft). Remove the Starter and battery positive cable from the Starter, and the ignition switch from the solenoid and examine the results. After working through the faultfinding procedures you have already defined, closely reviewing the wiring side and connections with the boot up is essential. Have the jump scanned. Mount the snop-on Starter shield correctly, align it properly, and take off the safety stands and lower the vehicle. Finally, plug in the battery negative cable back in.

    Q:
How to service and repair the starter motor on GMC C2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step of servicing and repairing the Starter motor starts with disconnecting the negative Battery Cable followed by properly raising the vehicle and supporting it adequately. Remove all protective shields from the selection solenoid area before taking out the Starter to transmission close out cover bolt. Severing the engine oil level sensor cable is the first step followed by removal of the front axle mounting bracket through bolt nut when the vehicle includes four wheel drive capability. Tap the front axle mounting bracket through-bolt until its tip is perfectly aligned with the support bushing, without dislodging it. The next step requires you to take out mounting bolts from the engine block so you can move the Starter forward to timing position past the transmission. First disconnect the Starter transmission close out cover before removing the positive Battery Cable and wiring harness from the Starter to carry out the Starter replacement. After placing the Starter within the vehicle you should connect its positive Battery Cable then tighten the nut to 16 n.m (12 lb in). The Starter transmission close out cover needs to be installed along with its mounting bolts to the engine block using a torque of 50 n.m (37 lb ft). To install the front axle mounting bracket through bolt nut on vehicles with 4wd one must reposition the bracket until it reaches full seating before tightening it to 90 n.m (67 lb ft). After restoring the engine oil level sensor connection you should install the Starter through its engagement close out cover bolt followed by securing the Starter solenoid shield. Remove protective shields when needed followed by stand removal and lowering the vehicle before you fasten the negative Battery Cable bolts to 17 n.m (13 lb ft).
