    Q:
How to replace the cruise control switch on Chevrolet Malibu? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disabling the sir system should be the first step before starting work on replacing the Cruise Control Switch. Start by detaching the Steering Wheel from the column then freeing the retaining tabs which hide the rear trim. Disassemble the bolt which holds the ground wire to the Steering Wheel by using a small flat-bladed tool to pry outward then separate the Cruise Control Switch from the wheel. Application of downward pressure to both switches together with the wire harness completes the removal process. To install the Steering Wheel components simply feed the switches and wire harnesses back inside then press down on the Cruise Control Switch for final locking. Reinstall the ground wire bolt until it reaches full seat position while tightening. Open the Steering Wheel trim cover before securing the locking tabs while installing the Steering Wheel back onto its position on the column. As the final step allow the sir system operation while conducting a diagnostic system check.

    Q:
How to service the cruise control switch on Chevrolet Malibu? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before working on the Cruise Control Switch users must deactivate the sir system. The service starts with the removal of the inflator module on the driver's side combined with the removal of the ip cluster trim plate and ip cluster. Using a flat bladed tool pry away from the components to remove the Cruise Control Switch while disconnecting its electrical connections (1, 2). First install the Cruise Control Switch (1, 2) by reestablishing electrical connections and making sure it remains properly held in place. Install first the driver's side inflator module followed by the ip cluster and the ip cluster trim plate. To finish the installation you must allow the sir system to activate and execute a diagnostic system check for cruise control.
