    Q:
How to adjust the Cruise Control Switch and stoplamp switch together to prevent premature brake lining wear or incorrect operation of the cruise control system on Buick Regal? Posted by Customer
    A:
Initial steps for adjusting the cruise control release switch and stoplamp switch comprise instrument panel insulator removal. These adjustments need to occur jointly to prevent early brake pad wear and cruise control system malfunctions. Brake Pedal compression to full travel must occur before the switches can enter their retaining points until complete seating occurs. Press the Brake Pedal until all audible clicks disappear. The measurement of Brake Pedal travel distances from the Brake Pedal pad centerline must be combined with a verification that the cruise control release switch contacts actuate at 3.5-12.5 mm (0.125-0.500 in) Brake Pedal travel while stop lamp switch contacts should activate at 4.5 mm (0.2 in) beyond this threshold. The last step involves installing the instrument panel insulator.

    Q:
How to replace the cruise control switch on Buick Century? Posted by Customer
    A:
Initiating the cruise release switch replacement procedure requires removal of the instrument panel insulator. First remove the cruise release switch from the brake pedal bracket by disconnecting its electrical connector then taking out the switch from its retainer. Fit the cruise release switch between the retainer on the brake pedal bracket while also reconnecting the electrical connector for installation. When installed properly you can adjust the cruise release switch before installing the left instrument panel insulator.

    Q:
How to adjust the Cruise Control Switch on Chevrolet Lumina? Posted by Customer
    A:
First, remove the left side instrument panel insulator panel to adjust the cruise control release switch. Fully press the Brake Pedal, it will make sure the cruise control release switch and the stoplamp switch are adjusted together, otherwise, possible incorrect adjustment will cause wrong working of cruise control system. Press switches all the way in up to retainers, then pull Brake Pedal all the way to to the pedal stop until audible clicks stop. Check the correct Brake Pedal travel specs: the cruise control release switch and stoplamp switch contacts should be opened at 3.5-12.5 m (1/8 - 1/2 in) brake pedal travel, measured at the Brake Pedal pad's centerline; and the nominal actuation of the stoplamp switch contacts should be around 4.5 m (3/16 in) after the Cruise Control Switch contacts' closure. Finally, reinstall the left side instrument panel insulator panel.

    Q:
How to replace the cruise control switch on Chevrolet Impala? Posted by Customer
    A:
In order to replace the cruise control release switch, position the ignition key in off or lock position, as well as ensure all electrical loads are off. If tools may come into contact with live, electrical terminals, disconnect the negative cable of the battery to avoid personal injury or vehicle damage. Be aware that vehicle is equipped with supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system and failure to follow procedure will result in air bag deployment, personal injury or unnecessary repairs. First remove the driver knee bolster panel and then disconnect the electrical connector from the cruise control cruise release switch and a switch out of the retainer in the brake pedal bracket. To install, return cruise control release switch to retainer, reconnect the electrical connector and then adjust the switch, and finally, install the driver side knee bolster panel.

    Q:
How to adjust the Cruise Control Switch and the stoplamp switch on Chevrolet Venture? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step when adjusting the cruise control release switch and stoplamp switch is to remove the left instrument panel insulator. Brake the pedal fully down before pushing the switches into their retainers until they are completely in place. Push the Brake Pedal into its full release until you hear all audible clicks stop sounding. Adjustments result in valid performance when the control release switch contacts and stoplamp switch activate between 3.5 to 12.5 mm (1/8 to 1/2 in) of Brake Pedal movement starting from its center position, with the stoplamp switch switching on at 4.5 mm (3/16 inch) after cruise control release. Reinstall the left instrument panel insulator as the last step.
