    Q:
What tools are required to service and repair the fuel tank pressure sensor and replace the fuel tank module on GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
    A:
The process of servicing and repairing the Fuel Tank pressure sensor along with Fuel Tank module replacement requires utilization of the fuel sender lock ring tool (J 45722). First clean all spaces surrounding fuel pipe and hose connections because impediments from contamination matter. Begin by removing the Fuel Tank while using a j 45722 to unlock the Fuel Pump module lock ring and remove it from the retaining features built into the tank. Then disconnect the evap line quick connect fittings from both the module and vent valve before detaching the evap line from the Fuel Tank clip onto its retaining features. The fuel feed line quick connect fitting must be removed from the module before being taken out of its retaining feature. Insert the fuel sender lock ring tool (J 45722) onto the Fuel Pump module lock ring but protect the lock ring from impairment. Use the j 45722 and long-breaker-bar with caution to rotate the lock ring counterclockwise until you unlock it. The Fuel Pump module emerges from the tank by removing the tool while lifting the module that should be tilted to reveal the sensor arm and float. Throw away the old Fuel Pump module seal along with draining any fuel into an approved receptacle. Clean the sealing surface of the module before checking the lock ring for any damage that exceeds 0.016 inches (0.41 mm). Replace damaged lock rings. The installation process requires using new fuel sender gasket material and Fuel Tank module seal along with proper cleaning of male pipe ends. Place the Fuel Pump module in position then lower it into place and center it correctly before securing the lock ring with the j 45722 by performing clockwise installation. To finish up the procedure you should reconnect the fuel feed line and evap line fittings before engaging them to their retaining features then reinstall the Fuel Tank.
