    Q:
How to replace the fuel tank module (NT7) on Buick Lucerne? Posted by Customer
    A:
The maintenance of the Fuel Tank module (NT7) starts with reducing fuel system pressure. Remove the rear compartment liner and the corresponding fuel sender access hole cover bolts until you can detach the cover. You must disconnect both the fuel feed rear pipe quick connect fitting and Fuel Level Sensor wiring harness electrical connectors 1 and 2. Move fuel feed pipe and harness connections aside before you install the j 45722 (Fuel Sender Lock Ring Wrench) onto the lock ring while ensuring no harm occurs. Handle the fuel sender assembly with caution since mishandling can damage both pipes. Proceed with caution when removing the assembly because the reservoir bucket contains fuel and handle the old o-ring seal along with the fuel according to disposal requirements. The j 45722 equipped with a long breaker bar should be used to rotate the fuel sender lock ring counterclockwise using the j 45722 until it unlocks for removal along with the fuel sender assembly. Turn the assembly to drain fuel from the opening before collecting all fluid in an authorized receptacle. Check the lock ring for damage and warping as replacing it will be necessary if its dimensions exceed 0.41 mm (0.016 in). A new fuel pump module o-ring seal should be placed onto the Fuel Tank followed by lowering the fuel sender assembly as you allow its float arm to fit into the tank. Utilize instrument j 45722 to install the module lock ring by applying clockwise torque for locking it into place. Reinstall both Fuel Level Sensor wiring harness connectors (1, 2) along with the fuel feed rear pipe quick connect fitting. Check the system for leakage by turning the ignition on and off through the reattachment of the negative Battery Cable. Fit the fuel sender access hole cover along with its bolts securely at 2 nm (18 lb in). Reinstall both the rear compartment liner and intake manifold cover.
