In order to replace the Throttle Body assembly, you should disconnect the negative Battery Cable and remove the engine cover, air cleaner outlet resonator, and air cleaner outlet adapter stud and detach the cruise control and accelerator cables. Then, take out the nut and stud that secure accelerator control cable bracket and put it to one side after that disconnecting idle air control (IAC) valve harness connector and throttle position (TP) sensor harness connector. Take out the Throttle Body assembly by removing Throttle Body retaining studs and throw out the Throttle Body seal. For the installation process, the surface of the gasket on the Intake Manifold needs to be cleaned and then the Throttle Body assembly installed along with a new seal while tightened with the retaining studs at 9 n.m (80 lb in). Replace the adapter-stud for the air-cleaner outlet-resonator, as well as fasten it on 8 n.m (71 lb in), and then join tp sensor and iac valve harness connectors. Replace the accelerator control cable bracket with the mounting fasteners tightened at 12 n.m (106 lb in), making sure that accelerator and cruise control cables do not keep the throttle open. Move on to install the accelerator and cruise control cables, then air cleaner outlet resonator and engine cover, and finally reconnect the negative cable to battery. Ensure the accelerator pedal moves freely with no binding between full and closed throttle by pushing it down to the floor and then releasing it.

To replace the Throttle Body assembly one has to disconnect the negative Battery Cable as well as take off the engine cover, air cleaner outlet duct and cruise control cable along with the accelerator cable and the mounting bracket for both cables. Then remove the idle air control (IAC) valve harness connector and the throttle position (TP) sensor harness connector and remove the air cleaner adaptor stud and Throttle Body fasteners to remove the Throttle Body assembly and discard the flange seal. Clean the seal on the surface of Intake Manifold and set the Throttle Body assembly back into place using a new flange seal. Install Throttle Body assembly retaining fasteners using a torque of 25 n.m (18 lb ft), then use 8 n.m (71 lb in) for the air cleaner adaptor stud. Reconnect the tp sensor and iac valve harness connectors and reinstall the accelerator and cruise control cables and mounting bracket with good routing to avoid the throttle plate to be left open. Lastly, install the accelerator cable, the cruise control cable, the air cleaner outlet duct, and the engine cover and restore the negative cable of the battery. Check accelerator pedal for free operation without binding, press and release.

In order to replace the Throttle Body assembly, first remove the intake air resonator and the air inlet duct from the Throttle Body. Remove the iac valve and tp sensor electrical connectors in addition to the accelerator and cruise control cables. Then remove the Throttle Body retaining nuts and pull out the Throttle Body assembly disposing of the flange gasket. Clean the surface of the Intake Manifold gasket before you bolt a new flange gasket and Throttle Body assembly. Mount the Throttle Body fitting nuts and tighten them to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). At this stage, you can reconnect the accelerator and cruise control cables as well as the iac valve and tp sensor electrical connectors. Lastly, replace the air inlet duct to the Throttle Body and the intake air resonator.

Begin Throttle Body cleaning by taking out the air inlet duct and resonator while avoiding tool insertion into the Throttle Body bore to prevent throttle valve plate damage. Examine the Throttle Body bore and throttle valve plate for all deposits and check the throttle valve opening for complete visibility during inspection. Strong solvents together with immersion cleaners need to be avoided when cleaning assemblies that contain the throttle position (TP) sensor and idle air control (IAC) valve alongside sealed throttle shaft bearings because these components can suffer electric damage or o-ring and seal failure. Also, solvents can cause non-serviceable throttle shaft bearing grease to degrade. You should never employ a wire brush or scraper during maintenance because they damage Throttle Body components. Furthermore, avoid cleaners that possess methyl ethyl ketone. The bore and plate need cleaning using gm top engine cleaner (1052626) or ac-delco carburetor tune-up conditioner (X66-P) or an equivalent product through applications with a clean shop towel. To remove excessive deposits the Throttle Body requires disassembly for cleaning which should be performed using a parts cleaning brush that does not get submerged in cleaning solvent. Reinstall both components after cleaning by putting together the Throttle Body and replacing the resonator and air inlet duct.

To remove the throttle assembly body, first, also disconnect the negative cable from the battery then remove engine cover, cruise control cable, air cleaner outlet duct, accelerator cable, and mounting bracket for the cables. Next, take off the idle air control (IAC) valve harness connector, throttle position (TP) sensor harness connector, air cleaner adaptor stud and Throttle Body fasteners and remove the Throttle Body assembly and discard the flange seal. Clean the surface of the seal in the Intake Manifold and install new flange seal with Throttle Body assembly. Titan the Throttle Body assembly retaining fasteners to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) and the air cleaner adapt stud to 8 n.m (71 lb in). Then reconnect the tp sensor and iac valve harness connectors, and reinstall the accelerator and cruise control cables with the mounting bracket and ensure a proper routing to avoid the throttle plate from being left open. Lastly, install the accelerator cable, cruise control cable, air cleaner outlet duct, and engine cover before re-connecting the negative Battery Cable. Try the accelerator pedal for free movement at the closed and full throttle by pressing and releasing it.

After cleaning, reassemble and install the throttle body, then reinstall the air cleaner outlet duct.

Do not use cleaners containing methyl ethyl ketone, as it is unnecessarily harsh and potentially damaging.

Clean the gasket surface on the intake manifold.

First, disconnect the negative battery cable.

Strong solvents can damage electric components or sensors and affect seals or O-rings, and they may wash away or break down the grease on non-serviceable throttle shaft bearings.
