Starting the Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe replacement procedure requires pulling the plastic cap from the quick connect fitting and lowering it down the cooler line by 5 cm (2 inches). You should use a bent-tip screwdriver to grab one open end of the retaining ring at the quick connect fitting so you can rotate it until removal. Pull the cooler line out directly from the quick connect fitting after discarding the retaining ring. The installation of new retaining rings necessitates completely fresh replacement of all oil lines together with both their fittings and rings. Position one open end of the new retaining ring through the slot of the quick connect fitting then rotate it counterclockwise until all three slots accept its ear parts. The retaining ring should easily fit into the slots without resistance and show itself inside the fitting. Fitting the cooler line into the quick connect will complete when a distinct click sound occurs without resorting to the plastic cap for this purpose. You need to pull on the cooler line with force to confirm proper attachment in the fitting. When fitting the plastic cap to the fitting avoid touching the retaining ring manually while making sure the fitting has a complete seating with zero gaps present along with the yellow tube identification band totally hidden to confirm proper joint seating. The transmission needs to be filled up to proper levels using DEXRON(R)III transmission fluid.

The cooler quick connect tool (J 41623-B) stands as a necessary tool for changing transmission fluid cooler hose/pipe. First lift the vehicle before finding an appropriate resting point while having a drain pan in place. First disconnect the retainer holding the transaxle oil cooler hose at the transaxle before moving away the white plastic covers from the quick connections. Detach the transaxle oil cooler hoses from the transaxle and the Radiator through the use of the cooler quick connect tool (J 41623-B) so you can take the hoses off the vehicle. The installation of new transaxle oil cooler hoses will proceed by inserting the pipes through the car until the fittings on the Radiator quick connect activate. Visualize correct retention of hoses by applying mild force to the hose ends. After that, install the white plastic covers over the quick connections. Push the hoses until a click sound occurs when they reach the transaxle quick connect fittings then gently pull the hoses to verify retention. Check the fluid level after setting the transaxle oil cooler hose retainer to the transaxle device and lower the car then inspect both the fluid amount and signs of leakage.

Install the wire retainers to the connectors, push the connectors into the transaxle coupling, and slide the white protector back over the connector.

Replace the white plastic covers over the transaxle connections and install the transaxle oil cooler hose retainer.
