Oil Tube

You must detach the right Exhaust Manifold and the oil level indicator before proceeding with tube and indicator installation. To replace the oil level indicator tube you must first unbolt its tube bolt and then twist the indicator tube until you can remove it from engine components. Thoroughly clean both the oil level indicator tube and engine block of previous sealer material. Utilize gm p/n 12346004 sealant (Canadian P/N 10953480) or match it with an equivalent sealant around the oil level indicator tube 13 mm (0.5 inch) below the tube bead prior to installing the tube into the engine block while ensuring proper rotation. Proceed to tighten the oil level indicator tube bolt to 12 nm (106 inch lbs.) before reinstalling the right Exhaust Manifold alongside the oil level indicator.

You need to begin tube and oil level indicator replacement by removing the oil level indicator along with the right Exhaust Manifold. Remove the oil level indicator tube bolt followed by slow twisting motion of the oil level indicator tube to separate it from the engine. Wipe away all previous sealer residues from both the oil level indicator tube along with the engine block before moving forward. The engine block requires application of gm p/n 12346004 or equivalent sealer at a 13 mm (0.5 inch) distance below the tube bead before placing the oil level indicator tube into position. The oil level indicator tube bolt needs to be tightened until it reaches 12 nm (106 inch lbs.). As the last step of repair install the right Exhaust Manifold followed by the oil level indicator.

The installation of replacing the oil level indicator tube begins with removing both the oil indicator and right Exhaust Manifold. Begin by removing the oil level indicator tube bolt before you twist the oil level indicator tube while detaching it from the engine. Before installation cut off any residual sealer from both the engine block along with the oil level indicator tube. The engine block requires gm p/n 12346004 sealant or equivalent at a 13 mm (0.5 inch) distance below the tube bead before installing the oil level indicator tube along the specified rotation. Attach the oil level indicator tube bolt while tightening it to 12 nm (106 inch lbs.). The right Exhaust Manifold and the oil level indicator should be reinstalled after completing the installation.

Fasten the oil level indicator tube bolt to 12 nm tension (106 inch lbs. Torque value). The last step involves reinstalling both the right Exhaust Manifold and the oil level indicator.

Install the oil level indicator.
