Oil Tube

First turn on the ignition off and pull out the oil level indicator from its position on the oil level indicator tube before beginning the replacement process. Before the next step starts remove the oil level indicator tube bolt then raise the vehicle. Follow this procedure by removing the Knock Sensor alongside the heat shield clip from the oil level indicator tube. After lowering the vehicle observe the position of the secondary (small square) heat shield. The oil level indicator tube must be pulled up through the exhaust manifold to remove it. When replacing only the oil level indicator tube seal the technician needs to discard the previous seal. The installation requires positioning the secondary heat shield precisely as it was positioned during removal on the oil level indicator tube. Use the tube to raise the vehicle and afterward reinstall the Knock Sensor on completion of installation of the oil level indicator and tube. As the final step lower the vehicle after attaching the heat shield clip onto the oil level indicator tube.

Start the replacement process for the oil level indicator tube by taking away the fuel injector sight shield. Start by removing the oil level indicator from its tube through the indicator tube before loosening the bolt surrounding it. Use care to lift the oil level indicator tube from the Exhaust Manifold through its entire length. The procedure requires discarding the old seal only when replacing the oil level indicator tube seal. The installation requires putting a new seal on the oil level indicator tube before you place it in position. Follow up this step by installing the oil level indicator tube bolt until torque reaches 10 nm (89 lb in). Complete the installation by putting back the fuel injector sight shield followed by re-installing the oil level indicator inside its tube.

Install the oil level indicator tube bracket bolt and tighten it to 10 Nm (89 lb in).

Take off the heat shield clip from the oil level indicator tube before lowering the vehicle.

Take out the oil level indicator tube bracket bolt and slide the oil level indicator and tube out from the lower crankcase hole.

Attach the heat shield clip to the oil level indicator tube as noted during removal and lower the vehicle.

Raise the vehicle again and reinstall the knock sensor.

Place the oil level indicator and tube back in position, followed by the engine splash shield.

Raise the vehicle, remove the knock sensor, and the heat shield clip from the tube, then lower the vehicle.

Lower the vehicle and extract the oil level indicator tube up through the exhaust manifold.

Remove the oil level indicator tube bolt.

Remove the engine splash shield and lower the vehicle.
