    Start by turning off the battery power and letting the coolant drain out. Detach the intake air resonator so you can ease up the Water Pump Pulley bolts at their position. Unfasten the front timing belt cover before you unscrew the Water Pump Pulley bolts directly followed by removing the Water Pump Pulley itself. Put the new Water Pump in place by taking out its bolts while holding the coolant in a catch basin. Scrub the engine's sealing spots before smearing silicone grease (GM P/N 12345579 or like product) on the replacement Water Pump's seal area. Fit the new Water Pump into position and fasten its bolts to 25 nm (18 ft. Pounds) torque. Mount the Water Pump Pulley on top of the front timing belt cover while inserting the intake air resonator. After reconnecting the ground cable connect and top up the cooling fluid.

    However, you need to drain the cooling system and remove the timing belt cover in order to change the water pump. Next, it is recommended to undo the water pump bolts (using catch basin to collect the escaping coolant), and extract the water pump and seal extracting it; be warned not to reuse the seal. If the cover seal of the pump on the rad seal is leaking, then it should not leak; otherwise, it will necessitate a new pump. Must remember to inspect the mating surfaces of the water pump. Coat the seal ring of the water pump with silicone grease, GM P/N 12345579 (Canadian P/N 1974984), or equivalent, and make sure the O-ring seal is seated properly before installing on the water pump. Then, secure the water pump into the engine block (make sure that you proceed according to the fastener notice guidelines). Tighten water pump bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) and tighten the timing belt cover. Finally, fill the cooling system.
