  A: Turn off the vehicle power and drain both coolant and water before handling the pump replacement task. First undo the intake air resonator and take off the Drive Belt along with Water Pump Pulley bolts before removing the Water Pump Pulley. Open the front Timing Belt cover after which you should remove the Water Pump bolts to pull out the Water Pump. Properly clean the Water Pump surfaces before using gm p/n 12345579 silicone grease to coat the seal ring and put in the new Water Pump. Mount the Water Pump bolts until they reach 25 nm (18 ft. Lb.) torque and check the Timing Belt for proper condition at the same time. Replace the front Timing Belt cover while adding the Water Pump Pulley bolts and tightening them to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). After installing the Drive Belt and air resonator seal the task with connecting the battery terminal and filling the coolant reservoir.
