  Q: How to replace a water pump on Cadillac Catera?

  A: Start by turning off the battery power and letting the coolant drain out. Detach the intake air resonator so you can ease up the Water Pump Pulley bolts at their position. Unfasten the front timing belt cover before you unscrew the Water Pump Pulley bolts directly followed by removing the Water Pump Pulley itself. Put the new Water Pump in place by taking out its bolts while holding the coolant in a catch basin. Scrub the engine's sealing spots before smearing silicone grease (GM P/N 12345579 or like product) on the replacement Water Pump's seal area. Fit the new Water Pump into position and fasten its bolts to 25 nm (18 ft. Pounds) torque. Mount the Water Pump Pulley on top of the front timing belt cover while inserting the intake air resonator. After reconnecting the ground cable connect and top up the cooling fluid.
