2000 Buick LeSabre Throttle Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the throttle cable on 2000 Buick LeSabre?
A: The first step to replace the throttle cable begins with removing the left IP accessory trim plate. Remove the throttle cable from the accelerator pedal lever followed by deforming the throttle cable cover tangs to pass the throttle cable through the bulkhead. Work begins with removing the throttle cable from its retaining clip and throttle cable and throttle body lever connection followed by releasing the throttle cable from the throttle cable bracket. An installation error occurs when flexible components near moving parts at a distance less than 50 mm (2 in) can cause interference unless proper securing methods are used. Guide the throttle cable through the bulkhead before snapping in the bulkhead-mounted retainer. Guide the throttle cable into the opening of the accelerator pedal lever which allows the cable end fitting to both lock in place and align directly with the accelerator control pedal lever. Route the dash panel insulator retainer alongside the throttle cable before ensuring both components lay perfectly against the dash mat. Push the retainer from the passenger compartment onto the cable lever end fitting and up the cable till it locks into position on the cable dash fitting flange. Make sure the throttle moves without catching between full throttle and wide open throttle by conducting an operator test of every throttle position while inspecting the pedal carpet fitment. First secure the cable under the hook within the throttle body lever then attach the throttle cable to the throttle body lever and finally connect the throttle cable to the throttle cable bracket before setting the retaining clip into place. After completing the process reinstall the left IP accessory trim plate.
