2000 Cadillac Catera Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake disc on 2000 Cadillac Catera?
A: Begin replacement work by unlocking the parking brake then safely raising the vehicle. Take off the tire wheel set. Insert the bleeder tip without over exertion to move pistons inside the caliper housing. Position the tip to catch vented brake fluid into a suitable container. Take off the clip over two feet upstream of the caliper brake pipe but stay vigilant to avoid misshaping the pipe when doing so. Afterwards, detach the brake hose from its bracket. Support the caliper first and then unthread its bolts before taking off the brake component. Pull out the disc set screw and disc from its position. Clean all rust and loose particles from the Brake Disc contacts on both the axle flange and disc to stop brake pulsing and runout increase during installation of the new disc. Insert the disc and its screw before fitting the caliper. Fasten the caliper bolts with 80 nm torque (59 ft. Lbs.). Connect the brake pipe back to its bracket while using the brake pipe retainer clip for attachment. Add fluid to the reservoir before putting back the tire and wheel unit and returning the vehicle to normal position. Use your foot pressure to slow down from 48 km/h (30 mph) twenty times until you have fully adapted new brake pads. Keep heat away from your brakes at all times.
