Using a 5 mm (3/16 inch) drill bit apply one hole at the centerpunch which enables gas or gas/oil mixture drainage while absorbing these substances using shop towels. Make a next indentation into the tube's middle using a centerpunch. After drilling this second hole at the centerpunch with the 5 mm (3/16 inch) drill bit, continue containing any oil leakage with shop towels. After releasing the shock absorber from the vise you should position it horizontally with the holes facing downward in a drain pan while moving the rod through the tube to empty all oil.
