Start service and repair of the brake caliper using the required tool dust boot installer (J 26267). First take the caliper off the vehicle. You need to exercise caution because putting your fingers forward of the Piston under compressed air pressure can severely injure you. You can take out the Piston through the caliper inlet when you feed low-pressure dried air into the opening. To avoid damaging the caliper parts use a wood or plastic tool to lift off the Piston boot and seal. Disconnect the bleeder valve cap from the caliper and take out both components before removing the Piston boot and seal. Follow the process of cleaning each part with denatured alcohol then airflow drying using filtered compressed air to clear all passages of the caliper body and bleeder valve. Replace the Piston right away when you spot scoring, nicks, cracks, wear, or corrosion on its surface. Review the caliper bore quality closely by smoothing minor rust damage with crocus cloth. If the caliper needs replacing do not use honing equipment. Replace the caliper when you detect nicks or burrs on the seal groove during examination.
