2000 Chevrolet Camaro Brake Booster Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the vacuum brake booster on 2000 Chevrolet Camaro?
A: Start with Brake Booster replacement by disconnecting the left side air inlet screen prior to taking out the hood rear seal. Unplug the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose and clamp from the check valve before you detach the master cylinder from the Brake Booster. Detach the left side i/p insulator and Brake Booster holding nuts through the bracket where it connects to the Brake Pedal. Users of manual transmissions should gently loosen the nuts on their clutch master cylinder. Locate the pushrod at the Brake Booster and remove it from both lever-pin and Brake Pedal. Inside the car, unscrew the pushrod retainer and washer that holds the pushrod. Slightly move the Brake Booster to disconnect the pushrod from the Brake Pedal pin without damaging its structure. Take the power Brake Booster unit off the vehicle. To install the Brake Booster you should position it on the vehicle then attach the Brake Booster pushrod to the Brake Pedal lever pin. Afterward tilt the booster slightly to create proper pushing room. Cover the Brake Pedal with the washer while placing the pushrod retaining piece from the inside of the vehicle. Fasten the Brake Booster against the pedal bracket with nuts at 20 nm while following the specified installation sequence. Secure the clutch master cylinder nuts to 27 nm strength for manual transmission cars. Secure the master cylinder to Brake Booster by installing its nuts and tightening them to 21 ft. Lbs. (29 Nm). Reattach the vacuum hose with clamp to the check valve then put back the hood rear seal left air inlet screen and instrument insulator to its original position. After closing the bleeding valve you should now depressurize the brake system through standard manual pressing or pressurized bleeding techniques.
