2000 Chevrolet Corvette Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the vacuum brake booster on 2000 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Start the replacement by loosening the washer solvent container retaining nuts and raising it out of the left wheelhouse space. Remove the electrical links and washer hose from both the washer container and the vacuum pump before plugging its discharge outlet. Take out the electrical connection from the brake fluid level switch before uninstalling the brake pipes from the master cylinder. Pull off the master cylinder retaining nuts then bring out the master cylinder from its position. Unplug the vacuum hose from the Brake Booster while also removing the instrument panel (I/P) lower panel. Unsecure the push rod retaining parts from the Brake Pedal and unscrew the Brake Booster nuts and washers from the studs. Then remove the Brake Booster and seal together as one unit from the dash's front side. Check the booster seal and its contact surfaces for damage before replacing them if needed. Apply delco brake lube gm p/n 12377969 onto all rubbing parts then install the seal and Brake Booster against the dashboard front section ensuring proper installation of the Brake Booster mounting nuts and washers onto their studs before tightening them to 27 nm. Fit delco brake lube (GM P/N 12377969) to the push rod pin before you put back on the instrument panel lower trim. Connect the Brake Booster vacuum check valve hose to its proper location then put the master cylinder on the booster followed by bolting it into place using tightly tightened 29 nm (21 ft. Lbs.) nuts. Secure the brake pipes to the master cylinder by tightening the tube nuts to 24 nm and connect the electrical connection to the brake fluid level switch. Resaddle the washer solvent container electrical connections and washer hose. Install the container to the wheelhouse and fasten it using retaining nuts tightened to 7.5 nm (66 inch lbs.). End your work by performing any necessary brake system bleeds.
