  • Q: How to service the Ignition Control Module on 2000 Chevrolet Malibu?
    A: To service the icm, first turn off the ignition and detach all electrical connectors at the icm. Observe the location of the wires of the spark plug in order to install them before removing them from the ignition coils. Take out the screws holding the coil assemblies to the Ignition Control Module and detach coils from the Ignition Control Module. Then take out fasteners to which this Ignition Control Module assembly is secured to the engine and remove Ignition Control Module out from the bracket. And for installation, you put the Ignition Control Module back onto the bracket and install coils to the Ignition Control Module. Install the fasteners holding the Ignition Control Module assembly to the engine, following the fastener notice in service precautions and then screws, tight to 4-5 n.m (40 lb in). Lastly, reconnect the Spark Plug Wires as identified during disconnection and reconnect the electrical connectors to Ignition Control Module.
