How to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor (7X) on 2000 Chevrolet Malibu?

To change the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) (7X), first, turn OFF the ignition and lift the vehicle. Disconnect the CKP sensor's electrical connector, remove the attaching bolt/screw, and remove the sensor from the engine. Check the wear and tear, cracks, or leaks in the sensor if it is not being replaced. Prior to installation, lubricate the O-ring with clean engine oil and provide a new one if damaged. Mount the sensor to the engine block on whose Fastener Notice in Service Precautions must be followed transmitting that part; reinstall the sensor attaching bolt and fasten it with a tightening torque of 8 N.m (71 lb in). Lastly, plug in the sensor electrical connector and drop the vehicle.
