    Q:
How to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor (24X) on Chevrolet Malibu? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the 24x crankshaft position (CKP) sensor. To do that, first turn off the ignition, and then remove the serpentine Drive Belt from the Crankshaft Pulley. Put the car up on a hoist and take off the crankshaft Harmonic Balancer. Take note of the routing of the sensor harness before unwinding, then pull off the harness retaining clip then pull off the bolt then pull off the sensor electrical connector, then remove the bolts to clear the sensor. For installation, install the 24x Crankshaft Position Sensor and fasten it using bolts with the harness routed as specified during removal. Mount the harness retaining clip with the bolt and tighten the bolts to 10 n.m (8 lb ft). Then connect to the sensor electrical connector, install the balancer back at the crankshaft, lower the vehicle and fit in the serpentine drive. Lastly, complete the ckp system variation learn procedure.

    A:
To replace the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor (24X), turn off the ignition, and remove the serpentine Drive Belt from the Crankshaft Pulley. Remove the right front tire and wheel assembly then the right front engine splash shield while the vehicle is up on a hoist. Next, take out the crankshaft Harmonic Balancer but be sure to note the routing of the sensor harness before removing it. Pull the harness retaining clip out with bolt, pull the sensor electrical connector off, and pull the sensor bolts out to remove the sensor. For the installation, install 24x Crankshaft Position Sensor using the bolts and run the harness as already pointed out above. Drive in the harness retaining clip with bolt and insert the bolts and tighten to 10 n.m (8 lb ft). Connect the sensor electrical connection, reinstall the balancer on the crankshaft, lower the vehicle, and finally, reinstall the serpentine Drive Belt.
