    A: Before replacing the brake drum you need to properly lift and support the vehicle along with removing its tire and wheel unit. Unscrew the two holding screws attached to the drum. Push the brake release button while pulling the backing plate plug from its place. Put a screwdriver into the backing plate plug until it touches the shoe lever stopper and then press the screwdriver toward the indicated direction. Install two 8 mm bolts into the drum holes to remove it from the hub before tightening them. Check the brake drum condition and replace it when damaged along with all other worn, deformed, faulty or corroded brake parts. Put a flat screwdriver between rod and ratchet fixtures to press the ratchet for better lining clearance. Move shoe stopper back to its position and put the drum into place. Fasten the drum by adding screws then return the wheel and tire unit before letting the vehicle down. Press the brake pedal three to five times using 66 pounds of force to make sure the brake shoes get the right space between them and the drum and to set park brake adjustment.
