How to replace or repair an emblem/nameplate on 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?

Use tape to protect the mounting space and make installation lines before putting on the emblem/nameplate. Apply the Heat Gun model J 25070 to the emblem/nameplate while rotating it for 30 seconds. Using a plastic flat blade tool helps you easily pick up and extract the emblem/nameplate from its painted surface. Do not attempt to remove the tape if it does not come off by itself on the molding or panel. Instead use a cleaner to clean both the tape and the mating surface with a dirt-free cloth. If the tape suffers damage you need to substitute it. Stick the adhesive foam tape piece to the backside of the emblem/nameplate before placing it onto the designated area. Use 3M(TM) Scotch Brite molding adhesive remover disk (P/N 07501) with body panels but switch to a lint-free cloth with VMP naphtha or isopropyl alcohol mix for cleaning plastic surfaces. Prepare an area to install the parts that stays away from dust until installation starts. Rephrase the process by soaking the area with VMP naphtha or alcohol-water mixture before using a lint-free cloth to dry it completely. When the emblem/nameplate location has no marks just apply tape first then mark it. Warm the mounting area to 80-105°F temperature using heat source. Keep the new part within the range of 85-90°F. Line the mounting surface with the emblem/nameplate by following your position marks. Push both pieces evenly together using proper hand pressure. Take off the protective tape from the spot where you will install the item.
