How to replace the rear emblem/nameplate on 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?

Before working on the rear compartment lid put protective tape around its emblem/nameplate to keep it straight. A Heat Gun (J 25070) should heat the emblem/nameplate at 152 mm (6 in) away for 30 seconds from all directions. Gently detach the emblem/nameplate from its position on the rear compartment lid surface using a plastic flat tool without harming the paint. Use 3M(TM) scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501) or an equivalent product to take off adhesive from both the rear compartment lid surface and the back of the emblem/nameplate. Use Varnish Makers and Painters (VM&P) naphtha to clean the interior surface of the rear compartment lid. Measuring the tape after warm the rear compartment lid surface at 21°C (70°F) marks its correct placement. Start from the front end of the emblem/nameplate then press it onto the rear compartment lid surface while peeling off all backing adhesive. Place the emblem/nameplate onto place and roll it along your hands to make sure it sticks well. Stop when you notice areas that need extra attention. Afterward you should take away the tape surrounding the rear compartment lid emblem.
