How to replace the rear compartment lid emblem and nameplate on 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?

When replacing the rear compartment lid emblem and nameplate for the Monte Carlo, make an initial application of tape for aligning marks to help you install it later on. Practically, protect the mounting surface with tape during removal, then with help of the J 25070 Heat Gun (J 25070) in a circular motion heat the emblem/nameplate for approximately 30 seconds. Cautionly remove the emblem/nameplate from the best of the panel using a plastic, flat-bladed tool. To replace the emblem/nameplate, de-glue all the adhesive: for body panels, utilize a 3M(TM) Scotch Brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07502) or an equivalent; For body panels, use 3M(TM) Scotch Brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07502) or an equivalent; for plastic panels, use lint free cloth with Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naptha or 50/50 combination of isopropyl alcohol and water. Make sure that the installation area does not contain dust or dirt and also ensure that the area for the emblem/nameplate is clean and dry. Use tape to mark out the locations for the Monte Carlo and Chevy emblem/nameplates. If needed, heat the mounting surface to about 27 o C to 41 o C (80 o F to 105 o F), and the emblem/nameplate should be about 29 to 32 o C (85 to 90°F), using the J 25070 Heat Gun (J 25070). Do not touch the adhesive side, peel off the protective liner of the emblem/nameplate, attach it to the mounting surface in the specified location using the provided marks, press on it steadily to even the bond. Finally, remove the protective tape of the mounting surface.
