2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Evaporator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the evaporator core in the HVAC module on 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: The Evaporator core replacement process starts with hvac module and all outer hvac module seals and moves to the air inlet housing. Users should first unclip the heater/defrost valve vacuum actuator before they extract the hvac module case upper screws to allow separation of the hvac module case. The hvac module seal must be detached from the lower case before removing the Evaporator core. Remove the lower, upper and side seals as well as water core filter from the Evaporator core. The new water core filter must be fitted onto the Evaporator core before applying new side seal and upper seal with two new lower seals. Leverage the new hvac module seal by placing it on the lower module case and slide the Evaporator core inside the unit. Safely position the retaining clip then fasten the upper and lower hvac module case components while tightening all hvac module case screws to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). Reinstall the heater/defrost valve vacuum actuator while the hvac module receives installation together with an air inlet housing which needs 1.5 n.m (13 lb in) of screw torque before completion.
