2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator in a air conditioning system on 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: The replacement process starts by removing the air cleaner assembly with its duct followed by the cross vehicle brace. The refrigerant recovery process begins before technicians disconnect the suction hose nut from the accumulator while setting aside the suction hose. After you detach the compressor hose nut from the accumulator move the hose away in position. First eliminate the accumulator bracket bolt before extracting the accumulator. During installation position the accumulator correctly then install the accumulator bracket bolt with torque setting at 4 n.m (36 lb in). Application of mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil to new o-ring seals and seal washers requires preparation before adding them to the compressor hose and suction hose. Thread the compressor hose onto the accumulator before tightening the compressor hose nut to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Next attach the suction hose to the accumulator while tightening the suction hose nut to 47 n.m (35 lb ft). Evacuate the system before charging with a leak inspection to follow. Reinstall the cross vehicle brace followed by the air cleaner and duct assembly.
