2000 Chevrolet Tracker Thermostat Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the thermostat on 2000 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: Startup the service process by draining the engine coolant. Detach the three bolts to safely move the A/C Compressor to the side. Unscrew the Radiator hose clamp at the Thermostat Housing before you remove the hose from this assembly. You should remove the three bolts then detach the Thermostat Housing before pulling out both the Thermostat and the o-ring from the housing. Thoroughly clean all surfaces on the Thermostat Housing using proper tools followed by an inspection of your Thermostat. Follow the air bleed mark on the Cylinder Head to position the valve before placing the Thermostat in the correct Cylinder Head position and inserting a new o-ring. Fit the Thermostat Housing by using three bolts which need tightening to 16 nm torque (12 ft lbs). Secure three bolts on the A/C Compressor until they reach 23 nm of torque (17 ft. Lbs.). The Radiator hose and clamp should be connected to the Thermostat Housing while you fill the Radiator with approved coolant. After starting the engine check the coolant temperature until it reaches operating conditions while confirming both hoses become warm as coolant operates properly through the Radiator. Verify that your cooling system is leak-free before shutting down your engine to complete Radiator Cap installation.
