• Q: How to replace the evaporator core on 2000 Chevrolet Venture?

  A: First remove the heater A/C module followed by vacuum harness separation from both retainers on the module case before proceeding. The blower module requires both air inlet housing removal and heater/defrost valve vacuum actuator removal before installing the retaining screws of the heater A/C module. Parting the upper and lower module sections requires you to free the retaining tab followed by taking out the seal connecting both halves. Fetch the primary module case seal from the lower module case at the specified point before extracting the evaporator core together with its lower, upper and side seals and water core filter. Throw all replacement parts away. To assemble the new water core filter you must first mount it onto the new evaporator core before installing new side and upper seals and two lower seals which should be positioned at the outer core corners. Start by installing the lower case seal at its specified position before setting the evaporator core into the lower module case. The upper module case has a retaining tab that needs inspection; if damage is detected, use an external retaining clip (P/N 52458793, or equivalent). Secure the upper module case with the lower module case by making sure the retaining tab enters its assigned slot. Intellectually tighten the heater A/C module retaining screws to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in) before proceeding with installation of the heater/defrost vacuum actuator valve, the air inlet housing, and its retaining screws which should also reach a torque of 1.5 N.m (13 lb in). The final step involves attaching the heater A/C module vacuum harness to the retaining points present on the module case. After performing this operation you should install the heater A/C module.
