2000 Chevrolet Venture Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove and install spark plugs on 2000 Chevrolet Venture?
A: It is essential to perform Spark Plug replacement when the engine reaches a safe temperature because hot engines can cause the threads in the Cylinder Head to seize or suffer damage. It is necessary to clean the Spark Plug recess area and only use manufacturer-specified spark plugs on the vehicle. Start the procedure by switching off the ignition system. The replacement procedure for engine right bank (rear) spark plugs begins with windshield wiper module removal followed by engine rotation through the use of engine tilt strap (J 41131). The first step starts with removing the throttle body air inlet duct while setting the park brake to neutral position and unscrewing the engine mount strut bolts which facilitates the strut movement aside. The engine tilt strap (J 41131) helps pull engine rotation forward before securing it tight. The engine maintenance requires the removal of both Spark Plug Wires and spark plugs from their positions. You need to inspect the gap size of new sparking plugs and reconditioned plugs with a round wire feeler gauge before their installation to guarantee proper specifications. Place the spark plugs inside the engine while making sure you can thread them easily into full position through the use of a thread chaser if required. Torque specifications for the installation should be 20 nm (15 lb ft) while reinstallation torque should be set at 15 nm (11 lb ft). After completing the mediation of each Spark Plug wire connect them to their designated terminals then position the engine correctly before securing the windshield wiper module cover.
