A: To service and repair the 10 1/2 inch axle, say rear axle hub, bearing, cup, or seal replacement, the following equipment will be required: universal driver handle (J 8092), j 2222-c Wheel Bearing nut wrench (J 2222-C), j 24426 wheel bearingrace installer-outer (J 24426), j 24427 Wheel Bearing race installer-inner (J 24427), j 44419 hub outer bearing race installer (J 44419), and j 24428 Axle Shaft seal installer (J 24428), and j 24428 a Axle Shaft seal installer (J 24428-A). Start by lifting the vehicle and then remove the tire as well as the wheel assembly, followed by the Brake Drum. Next is the turnout of the Axle Shaft and axle nut retaining ring as well as using the j 2222-c to pry off the key and adjusting nut. Then, the hub must the detached from the axle housing, next is the removal of oil seal from Wheel Hub and also extract the inner hub bearing. Now use brass drift and hammer to remove the inner hub bearing cup, this is done before to remove retaining ring which is attached to Wheel Hub. The outer hub bearing and bearing cup may be removed by the use of the j 24426 and j 8092.
