2000 GMC Safari Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the left rear door striker on 2000 GMC Safari?
A: You must start door striker replacement on the left rear by taking away the trim panel. A sharp-bladed tool should be used to separate the water deflector at its perforations if required. The process begins with removing the two nuts from the striker and continuing with removal of the insulator before taking out the striker. With installation place the new striker onto the door so that the narrow section on the wedge plate faces toward the vehicle rear. Slowly install the insulator before securing the striker with two nuts which require tightness to 30 N.m (22 lb ft). Reinstall the water deflector together with the trim panel after completion.
