2001 GMC Safari Door Striker Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the front door striker on 2001 GMC Safari?
A: The first step to replace the front door striker starts with removing interior trim whenever needed to reach the striker nut. Procure the Door Lock Striker and Seat Belt Torx Wrench (J 29843-9) to extract the door striker as you maintain control of the nut to stop it from entering the body pillar. The vehicle requires the removal of the nut along with the spacer and insulator. Adjust the striker using proper alignment for the door lock but restrict its use only to flushness adjustments because attempting to lift or lower the door will not be effective. Place spacer and insulator onto the striker before proceeding to the installation process. Use the Door Lock Striker and Seat Belt Torx Wrench (J 29843-9) to install the door striker but keep holding the nut to stop it from entering the body pillar before tightening the door striker to 67 Nm (49 lb.ft.). You should reinstall the previously taken interior trim pieces after finishing the installation sequence.
