2000 GMC Safari Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear trunk latch on 2000 GMC Safari?
A: Start the replacement by taking off the liftgate garnish molding. First detach the control rods from the actuator lever then unscrew the liftgate latch screws. Pull out the slider latch and remove the control rods from the three locations. Secure the latch into place on the liftgate with the control rod and change all retainers when you remove control rods during installation. Our technicians should use a torque wrench to fix the liftgate latch screws at 10 n.m (88 lb in). Insert the control rod through its hole by pushing both the actuator lever and the control rod together during installation. Put back the liftgate garnish parts into place.
