- Q: How to Replace a Power Steering Hose on 2001 Buick Century?A: Start replacement of the power steering pressure hose by adding a drain pan underneath the vehicle before extracting the pressure line from both the Power Steering Pump and engine-mounted retaining bracket. Users need a 18-mm crow's foot line wrench with a 2-foot long 3/8-inch drive extension to remove the power steering pressure line from its location on the lower side of the power steering gear through the engine compartment between the rocker arm cover and the front of the dash mat. Lift the vehicle and position straps correctly while extracting the power steering pressure line from its clamps at the power steering gear then fully remove the line from the car. Caulk the power steering pressure line onto vehicle fittings before locking them to power steering gear clamps with the vehicle on the ground. Reinstall the gear which holds the power steering pressure line in place against the power steering using a 18-mm crow's foot line wrench and apply torque at 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.). You should then connect the power steering pressure line to both its retaining bracket on the engine side and Power Steering Pump. The power steering system requires to receive power steering fluid and a system purification process. Verify that the power steering system remains leak-free and take away the drain pan which resides beneath the vehicle.
